Parking Day highlights variety in transportation

It is no secret that traffic in the D.C. metro region can be a pain, but local leaders are trying to alleviate that Friday and Saturday.

Every third Friday of September, Montgomery County celebrates Parking Day. Saturday, Montgomery County will be offering free rides on the new Ride On extRa buses from the Shady Grove Metro to Black Hills Regional Park, the Germantown Transit Center, and Clarksburg Premium Outlets.

“This will give an opportunity for people to actually go to the park. They don’t need to drive and they can go shopping and play,” said Al Roshdieh, director of the Montgomery County Department of Transportation.

The Car Free Day promotion runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.
