MOUNT AIRY, Md. - The only K-9 dog for the Mount Airy Police Department has received his bullet and stab protective vest.
K-9 Stryker has been busy keeping the Mount Airy community safe and because of a charitable donation from a non-profit organization, Vested Interest in K-9 Inc., he is protected by one more layer. K-9 Stryker is cross-trained in patrol, tracking, article search, and narcotics detection. His handler said he has been instrumental in helping the department
“What it does is adds an extra layer of protection to those k-nine's by allowing them to essentially have the same body amour,” said Cpl. Russell Halterman.
On Stryker’s new vest, is in memory of Clover.
