The Montgomery County Muslim Foundation celebrated County Executive Ike Leggett’s last year in office with an IFTAR dinner Tuesday night.
Hundreds were at the dinner to celebrate what Leggett has done for the Muslim community. Foundation officials say Leggett helped spearhead this tradition and they have been able to raise thousands of dollars from the community to help build a better organization and get people to become useful citizens of the county. The chair says the Muslim community would like the county to continue what Leggett has established so far.
“It’s just to establish a Muslim charity organization in Montgomery County and we want to buy a building, build a whole structure, and I’m appealing to my community to donate money to we can do it” said Tufail Ahmad, Montgomery County Muslim Foundation chair.
Ahmad says this is also an important time to have the celebration as they are also celebrating Ramadan.
