The Montgomery County Department of Liquor Control is in the national spotlight this week.
Chief of Licensure, Regulation and Education Kathie Durbin received the 5th annual Leadership in Alcohol Regulation Award.
The national award recognizes forward-thinking initiatives that promote public safety in the alcohol industry.
Durbin was promoted to Division Chief in 2003 and has received numerous awards since then on the national and local levels.
She spearheads the Annual Maryland Alcohol Forum, which is held in Montgomery County.
“Being proactive is the best thing we can do for our community,” Durbin said. “We want to educate everyone that’s selling and serving alcohol, so they can understand what they can do.”
The Montgomery County Department of Liquor Control operates 27 retail stores and generates over $30 million in revenue annually.
