A street restoration project two years in the making is more than halfway done.
The Middletown Streetscape project finished significant portions of paving, waterline installation, and sidewalk construction along Main Street.
The roadwork has taken up different portions of commuter routes, and flagging operations directing one-way traffic has residents sitting in their cars longer than usual.
Officials say the estimated completion date for the project is January 2020.
“It’s almost done, we’re almost there but it’s just tough when you’re a resident here and you drive up and down those roads every day. Residents have been really going through so much of the construction; it’s just been a long time we’re all just looking forward to it getting completed,” explained town administrator, Andrew Bowen.
Officials with the Maryland State Highway Administration say the project is 63% complete.
