Metro meeting makes progress

Leaders from Metro’s largest union said that their second straight day of meetings with management was a productive one.

Although a potential employee strike is still on the table, officials say a cooling off period has taken over with a third meeting now scheduled for Monday.

Union leaders have taken issue with metro general manager Paul Wiedefeld over fears of job cuts, fare increases and privatization.

Under their current agreement, Metro workers are legally forbidden from striking, however even a brief interruption of services could cause a severe transportation slowdown across the entire DMV.
