A local foundation has tallied more than $5 million in grants and scholarships in Frederick County, Maryland just this year.
The Community Foundation of Frederick County has released fiscal year 2018 numbers that illustrate how the organization has gifted $4 million in grants to area non-profits, and $1 million in scholarships to students pursuing post-secondary education.
The foundation manages about 700 funds and received more than 1,700 monetary gifts from donors.
“This is our third year in a row that we’ve been able to give out more than $1 million dollars in financial aid to Frederick County students. And every year we’ve increased the number of applications we receive,” explained president of The Community Foundation of Frederick County, Elizabeth Day.
Since the foundation began in 1986, more than $58 million has been distributed to the Frederick County community.
