A California-based biopharmaceutical company is making their way to Frederick County, Md.
Kite Pharma will open a new biologics manufacturing facility to produce innovative cell therapies for cancer patients.
The new facility will be located in Urbana on a 20-acre site and create several jobs in the county.
Kite is the newest of several bio-tech companies to move into the Frederick County area over the last several years.
“I think all of these industries want to collaborate together, and some of them support each other in certain ways,” said Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner. “They want to be close to the FDA and in some instances to NIH. So, we are location for this bio-tech cluster.”
Kite will work on cutting-edge cancer treatment, called, CAR-T therapy.
