Gov. Hogan announces special session to elect new House Speaker

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has announced a special session to be held next month to elect a new house speaker.

The House of Delegates will elect a successor to the late speaker, Michael Busch. Speaker Pro-Temp, Adrienne Jones (D), filled in for Busch during the final days of the 2019 session. Delegates who have started to campaign to become the next house speaker include Jones, Maggie McIntosh (D) and Dereck Davis (D).

The special session will be held on May 1.
