FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - With the primary election in Maryland just weeks away, a candidate forum was held in Frederick County, Maryland for those running in at-large positions.
Nine candidates from both Democratic and Republican parties spoke in front of residents on Tuesday night. Those candidates include: Philip Dacey (R), Galen R. Clagett (D), Danny Farrar (R), Justin Kiska (R), Jason Miller (R), Kavonte Duckett (D), John Hagen (D), Susan Reeder Jessee (D), and Mark Long (D). Jessee is the only women running for a County Council At Large spot.
The Common Market and the Frederick County League of Women Voters hosted the event.
Some topics that were discussed included: diversity, population, and economic development in the county. Other questions that were asked were “pertinent to the values of their respective organizations." The moderator for the forum was Dr. Tamelyn Tucker-Worgs. She works in the Political Science Department at Hood College.
“We are affirming view that this meeting is productive and that there is a lot of conversation and discussion that is views to the community here in Frederick,” said Victor Ayala, Vice President of Unity in Frederick.
