Former MCPS student made threats to schools through social media


Montgomery County Police say a former student used social media to make threats towards two schools in the county.

The threats were aimed at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School and Westland Middle School.

School resource officers brought the concerning posts to the department’s attention. Through investigation and interviewing the former student, Montgomery County Police concluded criminal charges did not apply.

Police say additional security was placed at the schools.
