County executive candidate forum brings out hundreds in Montgomery County

Early voting starts June 14th to the 21st

ROCKVILLE, Md. - With Montgomery County Executive Leggett’s last term coming to an end, there are now seven candidates’ who are running to take his spot.

Wednesday, the B'nai Israel Men's Club in Rockville hosted the county executive candidate forum as a way to give residents a chance to make their decision on who they want their next county executive to be. A Montgomery County volunteer voting organization, MoCo Voters, was at the forum to educate voters on which candidates used public financing versus the ones who have not.  Officials from the organization say this election has the largest number of candidates’ running in history.

"This is a historic moment in Montgomery County, it’s the first year that were having public financing elections, it’s a start for the county, it’s the first county in Maryland to have it and the nations eyes are on it" said Bobby Lipman, MocoVoters.org Co-Lead.
