DICKERSON, Md. - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will start construction to rehabilitate MD 28 Bridge, Dickerson Road, over the Monocacy River in Montgomery County.
The project is a part of Gov. Larry Hogan's initiative to improve transportation statewide. According to a new release, the driving road on the bridge has outlived its' useful service. Work includes replacing the bridge deck, installing a service road to maintain access to the river, and repairing concrete bridge piers.
The bridge was constructed in 1931 and is estimated to cost around $7.5 million.
