A video has circulated on social media showing a group of Urbana Middle School students attacking another student. We blurred out the video to protect the identities of those involved.

A group of students from Urbana Middle School crowds around another student yelling and cursing at him. The student then tries to run, but the group catches up to him and starts to hit the kid.

The incident happened last Wednesday, after school. School administrators and law enforcement responded to the incident according to Frederick County, Maryland Public School officials.

“Obviously, anytime there is bullying and violence of any kind, it is troubling,” said Michael Doerrer, FCPS. “It is unacceptable behavior at school.”

Doerrer said there will be consequences for not only the bully, but the bystanders, too.

“We have taken the appropriate steps to address both the bullying and the inappropriate school media behavior,” said Doerrer.

Parents in the Urbana community are now reacting to the video.

“Well clearly, I found it very distributing,” said one parent.  “I just do not want my kid to go to school scared anymore, and in the world that we live in now, it can be scary.”

School officials have reached out to the parents of all those involved.  With the help of law enforcement, they say they will continue to investigate the situation

Frederick County Public Schools did post to their social media accounts to let the community know they were aware of the situation.
