One of Thurmont’s biggest events is also the community’s biggest fundraiser, and the number is in on just how much was raised.
Catoctin Colorfest officials say the October event raised $20,339.22.
The 789 participating vendors pay a fee to join the craft show and a portion of that contributes to the final fundraising amount.
Officials say the money will benefit organizations like the Thurmont Ambulance Company, local food bank and scholarships for Catoctin High School students.
“The fact that we can help with that, that’s important to us. We’re all neighbors within this small town of 6,000 so whoever we can help, we want to do it and lend a hand to somebody,” explained president of Catoctin Colorfest, Inc., Carol Robertson.
The funds will also go towards preparing Christmas meals for those in needs.
