Canvassers count provisional ballots

Thursday afternoon, the public was invited to watch as canvassers counted provisional ballots at the Montgomery County Board of Elections.

A glitch at the MVA may have affected 80,000 Maryland voters who tried to make changes to their address or party affiliation. Those individuals had to vote with provisional ballots during the primary. Election officials in Montgomery County say they did not give out many more than usual.

“We only had 3,600 plus or minus that were issued and that number is fairly consistent with previous elections,” said Marjorie Roher with the Montgomery County Board of Elections.

Unofficial results will be posted to the Montgomery County Board of Elections website in the next few days.
