Bicyclist killed in collision with car

A bicyclist was killed after a deadly crash in a Silver Spring neighborhood on November 7 just after 6 p.m.

According to police, the owner of the vehicle involved did remain on the scene.

Police confirmed that the victim was hit by a 2019 BMW traveling westbound on Randolph approaching Goodhill road.

Police are hoping to prevent similar situations from taking place as streets and bike paths will continue to grow darker at earlier times.

“You need to be alert,” said Montgomery County Police Captain Didone. “You need to make that eye contact and you need to be visible so that people can see you. You can’t assume the drivers do see you and for drivers, you have to be looking for pedestrians. It is colder out there and their patience level is less.”

While the investigation is ongoing, police officials did confirm that the rider died at the scene and was not wearing a helmet when the crash occurred.
