The retired volunteer fire chief possessed a leadership style that still resonates with the young crew that carries on his legacy.
Even after he retired in 2016, Chief Seavey continued his personal fight against non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and was a driving force behind cancer research.
“He worked, primarily towards the last years of his life, on cancer prevention in the fire service which is killing firefighters at an alarming rate,” said Cabin John Park Volunteer Fire Department Chief Corrine Piccardi.
A hero’s memorial service will be held for Seavey on September 14 at the Washington National Cathedral.
