New information from Nationwide Insurance shows that August is the most dangerous driving month of the year.
State police say last year in Montgomery County, there were about 120 personal injury accidents during the month. Experts from Nationwide say it may be because of end of summer vacations. The weather could play a factor, as well. So far this summer, there have not been any fatal accidents in Montgomery County. Police are stepping up enforcement efforts to keep it that way.
“Currently, we’re working in conjunction with Montgomery County PD. We have initiatives planned for aggressive driver, distracted driver initiatives, as well as DUI and other impairment driver initiatives,” said Lieutenant Steven DeCerbo, with Maryland State Police.
Nationwide says Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. is the most aggressive time of the week for drivers.
