According to Middletown Fire Chief Brent Harne, crews were called to the 1600 block of Marker Road for a house fire last night.

Harne says when they arrived they realized that a kennel that had between 25 to 30 dogs had caught on fire.

Harne says that most of the dogs were able to escape, but between four to six died.

He also added that some of the animals had to be put down due smoke inhalations and because of their burns. Harne says the cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation.
