Police say a man is dead, and multiple people are injured after a shooting Tuesday night in Germantown.
Montgomery County Police responded to reports of a shooting on the 18700 block of Curry Powder Lane.
“It was crazy. It was just shots and ambulance, police, fire trucks,” said Richard Edwards, neighbor.
Police say they found a man and child in the neighborhood, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Two other men left the scene to get to a local hospital one of them, 18-year-old Tray Dawkins, who died from his injuries a short time later.
“My friends knew him, but I never talked to him. But I think I’ve seen him around,” said Edwards.
Detectives don’t believe the shooting was random, and they are hoping to locate any suspects.
“Detectives are still trying to determine where the shots came from if it came from a vehicle or if it came from somebody on foot in the area,” said Officer Rick Goodale, Montgomery County Police Department.
Neighbors say they really aren’t surprised it happened here.
“This neighborhood has its fame for criminal activity. They used to call it criminal woods, instead of cinnamon woods,” said Edwards.
Detectives are urging anyone with information on this shooting or the suspects involved to contact Montgomery County Police. You can also stay anonymous, and there is a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that leads to an arrest.
The case is still active and ongoing.
