17-year-old charged for walking into school with loaded handgun

Police say he will be charged as an adult for possession of a stolen weapon

BURTONSVILLE, Md. - Montgomery County Police say a 17-year-old was charged for walking into a school with a stolen handgun.

Police say Tuesday, Elijah Nyamekye, who is not a student, walked into Paint Branch High School and provided a fake name and ID number. Once a school security worker approached Nyamekye, he ran out of the school. Moments later, police found Nyamekye walking on a road near the school, and that’s when he was arrested.

Police say he was carrying a loaded gun inside of his bag. Nyamekye will be charged as an adult for possession of a stolen handgun.
