100 teddy bears donated for children dealing with trauma

A new donation of 100 plush teddy bears was given to the Family Justice Center, to give back to children who have been through abuse and trauma in Montgomery County.

The center goes through over 700 bears a year.

The bears were donated by the Adventure Theatre, which collected them from customers attending one of the theatre’s musical productions.

The bears will be valuable to children who have just endured traumatic events, such as domestic violence or traffic collisions.

“The ability for a police officer at a crash scene or at some other traumatic event to be able to give a child a stuffed animal, especially one of these beautiful bears can go a long way in terms of calming the child down,” said Montgomery County Chief of Police Thomas Manger.

The donation becomes especially important considering the sharp rise in child abuse and domestic disturbance incidents that takes places during the holiday season.
