HCC offering courses to middle school students

News

Middle school students around the Four-State region have two chances to take a walk in college life this fall with hands-on STEAM courses at Hagerstown Community College.

HCC has partnered with Beacon House, Inc., a STEAM education nonprofit, for the first time, offering a horror movie cinematography class on Oct. 20, where students create movie trailers using iMovie.

The college is also offering a “Pumpkin Chukin” course to teach participants how to make a catapult on Nov. 10.

Both are set from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at HCC.

About 16 seats are available for both courses.

Each course costs $35, but students can apply for a scholarship. The priority deadline is Sept. 25.
