Hate notes continue to harass local religious groups

News
Hateful notes continue to harass religious communities in Montgomery County.

Earlier this week, the Muslim Community Center in Silver Spring received a letter with a drawing and a message of hate towards Muslims.

Just seven miles away, the Islamic Education Society of Maryland received a similar note.

MCC contacted Montgomery County Police, and now officers are calling the letters a threat towards people of the Muslim faith.

“The residents in Montgomery County are urged to report all incidents to the police department that they believe are biased or hate-related,” said Sergeant Rebecca Innocenti, Montgomery County Police. “The department recognizes that these types of incidents not only affect the intended victim but impacts the community as a whole.”

The letters are now part of the investigation, therefore they are not being released.
