Hagerstown will stop collecting glass as recyclable

News

The City of Hagerstown will no longer be accepting glass as a recyclable.

As of Tuesday, glass must be disposed of with trash.

In a release, the city said glass will no longer be accepted by the city’s contractor, Waste Management, because the local and regional demand for glass has declined over the years.

Due to the low demand, the cost of glass collection, processing, and transportation exceeds its sale value.
