Hagerstown Police Searching for Home Invasion Suspect

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Officers from the Hagerstown Police Department are looking for a man suspected of entering a home Wednesday night and threatening a resident with an assault rifle.

The incident happened at about 7:30 p.m. on the 100-block of Ray Street. According to police, JJ Winston, 22, forced his way into the home, claiming that the resident owed him money. 

Police said the victim convinced Winston to wait outside the home while they got the money for him, and then locked the door and called police. Winston fled the scene in an unknown direction while officers were responding.

Winston’s vehicle was found unoccupied nearby, and it was towed to the Police Department, where a search found an AR-style rifle, along with illegal narcotics.

Winston was described as a black male, 6’0″ and 180 pounds. Anyone with information on his location is asked to call the Department’s Criminal Investigation Division at 301-790-3700.
