Former Hagerstown man getting extradited to Texas for 2016 murder case

A former Hagerstown man will be extradited to Texas, and stand trial for the murder of a 20-year old woman that happened there last year.
Adam Orndorff, 36, is accused of killing Krystal Hyatt last February in Newton County, near the Texas-Louisiana border. Her body was found off a county road, about a mile away from her vehicle, which had been partially burned.
Newton County Sheriff Billy Rowles said the case had “gone cold” at first, but it was re-opened and resulted in Orndorff’s indictment. He added that his office is currently working out the details of how to get Orndorff to Texas, saying it can’t afford the U.S. Marshals Service’s $2,000 fee to transport him from Hagerstown to Newton County, which is about a 20-hour drive.
His deputies could also carry out the extradition process themselves. They would have 30 days to do so.
