Incumbent State Senator John Unger of West Virginia fought to keep his seat in the 16th District Election, fending off his republican challenger, Delegate Michael Folk.
With all 65 precincts reporting, John Unger won with 52 percent of the vote and a total of 18,693 votes.
With about 20 years of experience in serving the 16th District, Unger says he aims to bring communities together to solve the issues everyone faces.
“In the constitution, it says ‘We the people, of the United States, to form a more perfect union,’ that means we’re always striving to form a more perfect union,” said Unger. “It’s never perfect union, but to be a more perfect union. Always coming together in unity.”
The 16th District includes parts of eastern and northern Berkeley County, the city of Martinsburg and all of Jefferson County.
