Chances are you’ve eaten or at least have seen this: Sate.
Basically, it’s chicken on a skewer, a traditional Indonesian dish.
This was one of many foods offered at the Made in Indonesia festival in Silver Spring Sunday.
The event was a celebration of Indonesian culture, from food to music to fashion.
Sunday was also National Batik Day.
Batik is an Indonesian cloth design method, and 27 contestants competed in a batik competition at the festival.
“In Montgomery County we have a large Indonesian community, so we want to share and introduce our culture to the community,” said founder of the festival, Maya Nurindah.
This is the event’s fifth year, and Nurindah hopes to see it grow into a long-term tradition.
