The Chief of the Fairfax County Police Department was involved in a collision on Monday with a suspected drunk driver, but he’s already back to work.
Colonel Edwin Roessler, Jr. was driving his unmarked police cruiser, a 2017 Ford Explorer, southbound on Lee Highway in Centreville around 8:40 p.m.
He stopped at a red light at the intersection with Stone Road, where a Nissan SUV rear-ended his cruiser.
Roessler, Jr. suffered minor injuries and was treated at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital.
The driver of the SUV, Christie Edgar, 40, was arrested at the scene. She was taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with driving while intoxicated.
