Residents in Emmitsburg are calling Monday night the most festive night of the year, as the town’s residents held their annual Christmas tree lighting.
From local choirs caroling outside of the Emmitsburg Community Center to Santa Claus arriving, residents gathered to watch the mayor and kids light the tree.
They also had the opportunity to donate canned goods for the Emmitsburg Lions Club Christmas Food Drive.
“This is a long standing tradition in the town to light the tree as a community probably for close to 100 years,” said Mayor Donald Briggs.
The event was moved to the community center due to ongoing square and sidewalk work.
