Unger overcomes Folk in the 16th District Senate race

In the Eastern Panhandle one of the races to watch out for is the 16th Senate District race between Del. Michael Folk and Sen. John Unger.
Election season is in full swing in West Virginia. Voters who reside in Jefferson County and parts of Berkeley County are voting for who they want to represent them in the 16th District. They have chosen to bring back Sen. John Unger back for his 6th term. With all 32 precincts reporting sitting West Virginia state Senator John Unger is the unofficial winner with more than 50% of the vote and will go on to serve a 6th term in the West Virginia Senate.  

“We’ve established early childhood education, we’ve also had fee to achieve, which makes sure no child goes hungry. We’ve also done farmland protection from the Eastern Panhandle,” said Sen. Unger.
While Unger has served as the senator of the district for the last 20 years and believes he has accomplished a lot. He says they have worked to complete Route 9 from Martinsburg to the state line of Virginia and also believes they have worked hard on tackling the opioid epidemic.

“Illness, which is impacting all of us starts with an I. Wellness starts with a we, and I think we really started coming together that momentum is there and I still want to be apart of that team,” said Unger.
