Wexton beats out Comstock for Virginia’s 10th congressional district

Election Virginia

UPDATE:

The results are in and Jennifer Wexton is the new 10th district representative in Virginia.

Wexton beat out incumbent Barbara Comstock who has held the seat since 2014. During her speech, Wexton said that District 10 voters have shown that they are ready for change.

The 10th district House of Representative seat has not been held by a democrat for nearly 40 years.

Governor Ralph Northam also made an appearance to congratulate Wexton.

The polls are closed and many are keeping track of Virginia’s 10th congressional district election.

Jennifer Wexton is vying to take control over a seat that has not been held by a democrat for nearly 40 years. She has built her campaign around tying Comstock to President Trump.

Comstock has tried to distinguish herself as a representative who has a mind of her own, a vote of her own and one who cares more about local issues over aligning herself with the GOP and President Trump’s agendas.

Comstock has said she did not support the House GOP bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act because it did not sufficiently protect people with preexisting conditions.
