Incumbent Tim Kaine (D) wins U.S. Senate election for Virginia

Election Virginia

UPDATE: Tim Kaine (D) wins re-election for the Virginia U.S. Senate race over Corey Stewart (R).

At Stewart’s concession speech, he said Election night was “just a speed bump,” and remained hopeful, highlighting the Republican victories.

Stewart admitted Democratic control of the House would hinder President Trump’s agenda, but that the fight is not over.

The 2018 U.S. Senate election for Virginia could be seen as a microcosm of the 2016 Presidential Elections as Republican candidate Corey Stewart, incumbent Democratic Tim Kaine and Libertarian candidate Matt Waters race for the seat.

Throughout his campaign, Corey Stewart has marketed himself as someone who is loyal to President Trump and as someone who represented the president’s political values before Trump entered the political stage. This is an interesting strategy because Clinton and Kaine took Virginia in 2016.
