Voters at Skyline High School in Front Royal, Virginia had the chance to do two very important things: Get a flu shot and cast a ballot.

The Lord Fairfax Health district decided election day would be a great day to promote the importance of getting a flu shot.

Officials say that last year's flu season was one of the longest and most deadly. They hope people take getting the flu shot seriously, as the new flu season begins.

The district has over 400 vaccines available and hopes to use them all by the time the polls close Tuesday evening.

"This is a huge election year here in Virginia as everyone's been hearing on the news. So it's prime opportunity to have people out here voting also get a flu shot." Leea Shirley of Lord Fairfax Health District says.

The flu shots given out Tuesday were free of charge.
