Dozens of empty cages and animals were pulled from a neglected home in Middletown.

“Approximately two weeks ago we received an anonymous complaint concerning the welfare of a large number of cats,” said Sergeant Luckenbaugh

Neighbors told us the person who lived in the home had a number of cats, and on Thursday, investigators said they found animals inside that were being kept in poor conditions.

“There were many cats in the resident kept in poor condition and in poor health,” stated Luckenbaugh.

Neighbors said a woman lived in the home, but that she was evicted a few weeks ago, and as for the animals, investigators said they will all be checked out by a veterinarian.

“They are being transported to the Fredrick County animal control center now where they will be examined by vets to determine their state of health.”

Officials said the case is still under investigation.
