Cumberland man arrested for throwing knife at police officer

News

A Cumberland man is in custody, after police said he threw a knife at an officer.

Virgil Webb, 33, is facing charges of first and second-degree assault, as well as reckless endangerment.

Officers responded to a home on the 100-block of Altamont Terrace in the early morning hours of Nov. 30, for a call of items being destroyed.

They found Webb in the upstairs bedroom. They said he lunged towards the officers, and threw a folding knife at one of them. The knife struck the wall.

Nobody was injured in the incident, and Webb was arrested.

He was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center, where he was held on a $7,500 bond.
