MCPS Office of School Support and Improvement met with community members at Watkins Mill High School to discuss how High School students’ achievement is being monitored and reported.
Montgomery County Public Schools laid out an equity accountability model focusing on monitoring students’ achievements. Area Associate Superintendent Darrly L. Williams says the state report card doesn’t show the entire picture so that’s what the equity model is for. Williams says some strategies MCPS is focusing on helping to improve students’ performance include–math and literacy, instructing teachers, and student-staff relationships.
“This is showing the date and then more importantly every school has a school improvement plan where they develop a literacy goal and math goal, and they have a professional development learning plan for staff,” said Williams.
Tonight was a part of a series of meetings being held at nine different area High Schools aiming to improve strategies already in place for students.
