Clear the Shelters campaign begins at Frederick County’s Animal and Adoption Center

News

The week of July 18 kicks off Frederick County’s Animal and Adoption Center’s “Clear the Shelters” campaign. Cats and kittens will go home for an adoption fee of  $23.00.

Officials say it’s a way to get pets into their forever homes. Even with the discounted price, the adoption includes everything you would normally get like the rabies vaccine, spray and neuter, the micro-chipping and even a free visit to a local vet.

If you are thinking of adopting, officials say you need landlord consent if you rent, a photo ID, and rabies certifications for any existing pets.

“Over the last year, we brought in just about four thousand animals and we still have a lot here looking for their forever home. This is an opportunity for us to showcase a lot of animals that would not get a lot of attention normally,” said humane educator, Bethany Davidson.

National Clear The Shelter Weekend is July 22 and July 23. Officials say all adoptable pets will go home for $23.00.
