The count continues in Washington County.
Although Washington County Government offices were officially closed on Monday, November 12 in observance of Veterans Day, staff at the county’s election board were still processing provisional ballots in anticipation of the canvass on Wednesday.
One local race remains close.
According to Kaye Robucci, director of the county’s election board, Delegate Paul Corderman is leading Democratic challenger Peter Perini in the District 2B race by 540 votes.
However, there are 391 provisional ballots yet to be counted.
Other ballots are still arriving in the mail.
The provisional ballots have to be postmarked by or before Election Day in order for them to be counted.
“Often, absentees kind of run the same way as Election Day [results],” Robucci said. “But, you never know.”
The final canvass and vote certification is scheduled for Friday, November 16.
