Sex offense arrest

Agents with the Washington County Narcotics Task Force and the Hagerstown Police Department made an arrest Wednesday following a prostitution and human sex trafficking investigation in Washington County.

Agents said a meeting was arranged with a female who advertised on an escort service website. The female entered a motel room under belief that she would be paid for sex.

After that, she was detained by agents after becoming frightened and wanting to leave.

The investigation revealed that the female was 16 years old and was taken to the motel by an adult male, later identified as 25-year-old Sergio Vargas.

Agents said the Vargas arranged the meetings through text messages with the female.

As a result, Vargas was arrested in the parking lot of the motel. He was charged with multiple felony offenses including human trafficking and prostitution.
