Montgomery County Police is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect of an armed robbery.
As an employee entered a restroom, she was met by a handgun, leading to this recently released surveillance footage of an armed robbery at a Dollar Tree.
“He restrained her and removed her office keys which allowed him access into the business office and allowed him access into the safe,” said Officer Rick Goodale, Montgomery County Police.
Montgomery County Police released the footage Tuesday, two weeks after the robbery.
“It’s sad and I was surprised when you told me,” said Jeannette Chow, local shopper.
“I come here all the time,” said a local shopper. “To Micro Center, sometimes to other stores, and I wouldn’t expect anything like this here.”
Local shoppers try to understand, why here?
“A lot of people are suffering in this country,” said Chow. “They are struggling. They can’t get jobs that pay much, and I guess they’re getting really desperate and resorting to crime.”
“The store is really popular and always has long lines,” said a local shopper. “So maybe they think the cash register had a lot of money.”
The suspect is described as a black male in his thirties, with a heavy build, and between 5’5” and 5’8”.
“He was a wearing a mask and a white distinctive fisherman’s hat,” said Goodale. “Detectives are also offering a reward of up to 10,000 dollars for any information that leads to the identification or arrest of this suspect.”
The robbery happened on July 5th, just after the store on East Jefferson Street closed.
