Amanda Engel joined WDVM-TV as the Morning News Producer in October 2018. Amanda was excited to learn about Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc.—WDVM's parent broadcasting company—at a journalism conference and their focus on local news. Soon after, she joined the WDVM team in Maryland.
Before Amanda joined the news team at WDVM, she worked as a freelance writer for WBFF in Baltimore, writing stories for an assortment of their news shows and working closely with the producers. As a news assistant at WMAL News, a radio station in DC, she interviewed people and posted stories to the website. She also interned at NASA, where she discovered a desire to work in a newsroom.
Amanda earned her bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism with a minor in astronomy from the University of Maryland, College Park. While in school, she met and married her husband and they decided to stay in Maryland after graduation.
When she's not producing the morning newscast, Amanda is listening to audiobooks, watching Netflix, cooking and spending time with family. She's also looking up trivia for Question of the Day in her favorite reference tool—the almanac.
