CUMBERLAND, Md. (WDVM) — The Cumberland Police Department charged Nicholas Richard Kennell with 1st and 2nd-degree assault, and reckless endangerment.

Officers arrived at a South Street residence for an assault complaint on Monday and spoke to Kennell who claimed he had been infected by COVID-19. According to officials, Kennell then leaned in the direction of officers and purposely coughed. Kennell was charged with 1st and 2nd-degree assault, and reckless endangerment.
