Senate approves 4 percent pay raise, teacher strike set to continue

The negotiations and debate continue in the capitol

WEST VIRGINIA - On Saturday evening, the West Virginia Senate Finance Committee approved a 4% pay raise for teachers, school service personnel and troopers.

This is 1% less than was originally approved by Governor Justice and the House of Delegates earlier this week.

The amendment that decreased the pay raise, passed with a 9 to 8 vote.

The bill will go back to the house for approval, but they very well could amend it and then it would be back in the Senate's hands.

As of now, union leaders have said the strike is set to continue on Monday.
