Traffic stop in Ranson turns into police chase

29-year-old Duane Oliver Jr. was charged with reckless driving and other charges

RANSON, W.Va. - One man was arrested on Saturday in Ranson after a routine traffic stop turned into a police chase.
 
29-year-old Duane Oliver Jr. was charged with reckless driving, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, DUI drugs, three counts of possession of a controlled substance and other charges. 
 
According to police, Oliver failed to stop for the traffic stop on WV Route 9 in Ranson leading to a chase along U.S. Route 340 North. 
 
After a search of the car when it came to a stop, police discovered that Oliver was in possession of marijuana, controlled prescription pills and heroin. 
 
The case was handled by Charles Town Police Department.
