Fire displaces two, dog

Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Two adults and their dog have been displaced after a fire consumed their home in Jefferson County.

EMS officials said just before 12 p.m., firefighters were called to Camden Court in Charles Town to fight off flames devouring a single-story home.

They got the fire under control in about 20 minutes.

Officials said there was an occupant sleeping when the fire occurred, but that person was woken up by the dog and able to escape.

Officials said the homeowner did not have a working smoke detector.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
