UPDATE: Cottages of Martinsburg releases statement regarding ongoing bed bug lawsuit

'Cottages of Martinsburg reacted quickly and appropriately to all pest issues'

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - We have new developments in a West Virginia lawsuit, where former residents of the Cottages of Martinsburg allege their homes were infested with bed bugs prior to moving in.

On Wednesday, the officials with Cottages of Martinsburg released a statement about the measures that management took to eliminate the bed bugs. They said:

The "Cottages of Martinsburg reacted quickly and appropriately to all pest issues, spending tens of thousands of dollars on behalf of its tenants who reported the existence of bed bugs in their units. Some tenants who reported the presence of bed bugs became uncooperative in pest control efforts after engaging counsel to represent them."

In regards to the change in management, they said:

It was "due to an unrelated corporate divestment decision at U.S. Residential Group in Texas, not anything occurring in West Virginia."

The statement went on to say that those named in the lawsuit worked tirelessly on behalf of the residents, and the current management will continue to do so.
