Strasburg Volunteer Fire Department releases official statement regarding rape allegations

Release comes on same day as firefighter's court hearing

STRASBURG,Va - The six Strasburg firefighters charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor had their court hearing Thursday. 

The rape allegations against the sStrasburg volunteer fire fighters has definitely shaken the small town, leaving many people with questions. After months of silence, the fire department also released an official statement to try and answer some of them. 

The release states that the department has fully cooperated with law enforcement since April of 2017, and all of those involved were placed on administrative leave. They were also suspended from all department duties, in November, after more investigation details were released. The department did not state who the interim fire chief is at this time. Contrary to previous reports, the release states that none of the allegations or events took place  at the fire station on King Street.

The fire department says they have and will continue to take the allegations very seriously.
